Defeated gnomes in Infinity Time drop time shards the more shards you collect, the better your rewards at the end. While the mode is endless, there is something of a goal here. However, instead of playing as a Plant or a Zombie, you’re placed in the metal frame of a giant mech, which has abilities of its own and helps to make the mode feel a little different from the Graveyard and Garden Ops. This new mode also supports up to four players where you try to survive as long as possible against a relentless horde of garden gnomes that are bent on destroying time. So, if you’re itching to play some Gnome Bomb, Suburbination, or Herbal Assault with your friends but not against other players, you can.įinally, completing the single-player quests for either the Plants or the Zombies unlocks a new challenge, Infinity Time. bots in all of the game’s multiplayer modes. Additionally, Garden Warfare 2 has added the ability to play against enemy A.I. Garden Ops, a horde mode for up to four players where you have to defend a point against ten waves of zombies, returns from the original game, and the Zombies now have their own version with Graveyard Ops. Local co-op is now supported (on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions only). While some aspects of the game have suffered a bit, the co-op is stronger than ever. Still, there’s a feeling that the Zombies are a little outgunned and a little less adaptive to the dynamic situations that often arise when you’re in the mix of things. EA patched the game recently to address some of the balancing issues in the game, and that has helped. I mainly noticed this while playing through the single-player and co-op modes, but it was enough that it made me hesitant to even try and engage in any multiplayer. When I first started playing a couple weeks ago, I noticed that, on the whole, the Zombies felt like they took more damage and died quicker than their vegetative counterparts. Completing the quests from the bounty board does provide you with an experience multiplier that will make leveling easier the second, third, or tenth time around, but between the coins and this new system, there’s a distinct “grinding” aspect to Garden Warfare 2.Īdditionally, having that many different playable characters in a game will naturally lead to a lot of imbalances when you do face off against foes. The rush of games is coming, but before you get lost in a sea of endless releases, you should definitely check out this lovable third-person shooter. I have spent countless hours with the title, and still play it months after release, which is more than I can say for almost every shooter ever released on a console. I can’t recommend it enough for even the most jaded gamer. Zombies: Garden Warfare is just a delightful game, and a ton of fun to play with friends. I do wish they would rebalance it though – it takes forever to collect the infinite amount of stickers in that game. Of course there are micro-transactions for the packs of cards that unlock new weapons and characters, but those can be grinded out in the game. All the new content packs and levels hit without cost.

Yet another wonderful tidbit about Garden Warfare.
PLANTS VS ZOMBIES GARDEN WARFARE PC REVIEW PS4
Not much has changed with the PS4 version of the game, except that all the DLC is now available, oh and it is free. It really is that much fun.Ĭue epic “walking away from explosion” music. Garden Warfare outlasted Titanfall, Battlefield 4 and even Call of Duty for me as far as games I keep coming back to. Funny enough I found myself playing this more than all the other recent shooters combined. Think of it like Battlefield with cartoon weapons and levels and it makes sense. There are two sides, obviously plants and zombies, broken down into classes that are just as wacky as the subject matter. The competitive version pits 24 players in a battle online in a variety of modes. It is a blast, and the included Boss Mode, which gives players a top-down perspective allowing them to control reviving fallen friends and dropping items, is great for those without advanced shooter skills. This is the mode I spent countless hours in on Xbox One. This horde-style mode pits four players against waves of zombies to protect their garden. The best place to get started is Garden Ops.
